Fresh Starts by Stacy

Chapter 1:

~Think back to when S&B got out of the caves. They had just been brought to the
hospital. I am going to have V work for Jax for now(even though she wasn’t on the show
yet). Lois isn’t back yet and Robin and Jason are together....sort of.

Sonny paces GH waiting for Brenda and Jax to come in with Brenda. Mike walks over to
him and stands next to him as they wait together.

Mike-Are you sure you’re ok? Maybe you should see a doctor.
Sonny-No, I’m fine. I’m just waiting for.....

Sonny stops as they wheel Brenda in. Brenda looks over at Sonny and he looks at her.
The nurse asks Brenda a few questions.

Nurse-We’re going to have to run some tests.

Brenda nods and they wheel her away. Sonny watches her and so does Jax. Before
Sonny can move an inch Jax blocks him from going any further.

Jax-Don’t even think of going near her or I’ll kill you.
Sonny-Back off Candyboy. I may be grateful for saving me but that’s all.
Jax-You won’t hurt her again.

Sonny walks away from Jax. Jax makes his way to where Brenda is.

~10 minutes later~

Jax walks into the room where Brenda is and sees her sitting there. He sits next to her.

Jax-Are you ok?
Brenda-I think so. I’m just waiting for the test results to come back.
Jax-(hugs her close) I am so glad that you are alive. I was so scared.
Brenda-Me, too.

Brenda wraps her arms around Jax.

V comes rushing into GH and finds Sonny sitting with Mike. She walks over to him.

V-Mr. Corinthos, how is she?
Sonny-Ok. She is getting some tests run. Look, can we talk?
V-Sure.

Sonny and V step aside.

V-What is it? What happened?
Sonny-It’s a long story. I’ll explain later. Listen, you haven’t changed your mind on
wanting to be with Jax, have you?
V-No. What about you and Brenda?
Sonny-I need her. I think we need to work together to get the people we love.
V-What do you want me to do?
Sonny-Get Jax away from Brenda for a moment.
V-Ok.

V goes to find Jax.

V knocks at the door where Jax and Brenda are. She steps in.

V-I don’t mean to intrude but I wanted to make sure you both were ok.
Brenda-I am fine and Sonny....
V-I know. I saw him.
Brenda-Oh. He’s ok, right?
V-Yeah. Mr. Jax, can I talk to you for a second?
Jax-Can it wait? I don’t want to leave Brenda.
Brenda-It’s ok.

Jax gives Brenda a kiss on the head and him and V go down the hall.

Jax and V were enough distance away for Sonny to sneak in and see Brenda. He steps in
and she opens her eyes. When she sees it’s Sonny she sits up.

Sonny-I needed to make sure you were ok.
Brenda-I’m fine. Sonny, you really shouldn’t be here.
Sonny-Brenda, I can’t go. Not after what just happened. I need you back. We belong
together. Please don’t tell me to go away again. Don’t tell me you don’t love
me.......don’t turn me away.....not now.

Chapter 2:

V fills Jax in on the latest business deal that has gone down. It doesn’t look good and she
figured Jax should know about it.

“Jax, I just thought you should know. I didn’t know if I should call you or come and tell
you at all because of what Brenda is going through.”

“Thanks for coming to tell me. I need to be concerned with Brenda right now, so I am
going to need your help. I am going to need to count on you a lot until Brenda gets well.
Can I count on you?”

“Yes. Whatever you need.”

“Thanks. I better get back to Brenda. I will call you in the morning.”

V agrees and they go their seperate ways. Jax makes his way back to Brenda and V goes
home for the night.

Sonny tries to say something to Brenda that will make her realize that they belong
together. He knows that she knows it but he also knows that she loves Jax. He hates to
admit that she loves him, but he knew it was true.....but he didn’t know how much.

“Brenda, you can’t tell me you don’t love me.”

“No, I can’t. But I can’t tell you what is going to happen either.”

“You need time. I can deal with that, but don’t shut me out.”

“Sonny please. I don’t know what I.....”

Before Brenda finishes her sentence Jax walks in the room and shoots a glare towards
Sonny.

“What the hell do you think you are doing?”

Ned was pacing the floor waiting to hear something on Brenda. He knew her and Sonny
were missing and that Jax and the police were looking for her but he didn’t know anymore
than that. (Ned and Lois don’t have a baby in this one) Just then the phone rings.

“Jax?”

“No, it’s Lois.”

“Oh, sorry. I just thought. You haven’t heard anything about Brenda, have you?”

“Bren? What about her? Is something wrong?”

“Oh my G*d. You don’t know?”

“Ashton, will you please just tell me. If something has happened to my best girlfriend I
deserve to know.”

“All right. Brenda got kidnapped and her and Sonny got trapped in a cave. I haven’t
heard anything else.”

“Holy....I’m on my way back.”

Before Ned got another word out he heard a dead silence on the other end of the phone.
He knows that Lois would want to be there for Brenda, but could they handle seeing each
other again?

Jason arrives at Robin’s house. Robin lets him in and notices that he is bruised and can
barely walk.

“Jason, what happened to you?”

“Nothing. I almost broke my ribs. I’m fine.”

“Well, what happened to Sonny and Brenda? Are they ok?”

“Yeah. They are getting checked out in the hospital. Sonny wanted me to come and stay
with you. To make sure nothing happened to you.”

Robin helps him to the couch and hugs him gently without hurting his ribs.

Sonny walks past Jax and out the door. Jax follows him closely behind and grabs his
jacket.

“Don’t walk away when I’m talking to you.”

Sonny gets a rush of anger overcome him and he takes Jax by the jacket collar and shoves
him up against a wall.

“Don’t you ever speak to me like that. You won’t tell me what to do about Brenda or
anyone else. Things are going to change for you faster than you can blink.”

Chapter 3:

As Mike is walking by he hears the voice of his son and follows to his voice. What he sees
disturbs him.

There Sonny is holding on to Jax’s suit collar and has him shoved up against the wall.
Sonny is yelling at him.

“If you don’t back off I will make you sorry.” Sonny warns.

Mike walks up to them.

“Michael.” Mike says.

Mike looks at his dad and then releases Jax, but not without a quick shove. “You’re not
worth it.” Sonny says.

Jax straightens out his jacket and then goes back inside to see Brenda. Sonny turns to
Mike.

“Why did you do that?” Sonny asks.

“Beating him up won’t change what has happened. You need to deal with it differently.
Beating Jax up won’t bring Brenda back to you.” Mike says.

Robin and Jason slowly pull apart. She touches his face and sees dirt on him. She wipes
what she can off of him.

“What can I get you?” Robin asks Jason.

“Nothing. You being safe will be enough. Just promise me that you’ll always be careful.”
Jason says.

“I will. Jason, are you afraid of something happening?”

“I am afraid of what happened to Brenda happening to you.”

“It won’t.”

“It could. Especially in my line of work. You the most important thing to me and I won’t
risk your life for anything.” Jason says.

“I know. I promise to be careful. Now, let me get a washcloth to wash the rest of the dirt
off your face.” She says.

Jason nods. She leans down and gives him a light kiss and then goes to the bathroom to
find some things for Jason.

Lois hops in her car and begins to drive to PC to find out what could possibly have
happened to Brenda. She couldn’t believe that nobody called her and informed her about
this. After all, Brenda was her best friend.

“Oh G*d, Bren. Please be alright.” Lois thinks.

She is hitting every red light possible. And she almost runs through the last one. “I don’t
have time for this. I need to get to Brenda. She has to be alright.” Lois says.

Jax sits next to Brenda for a few minutes without saying anything. He just watches her
and thanking G*d for her to be able to be there with him. He knew that he wasn’t going
to let Sonny hurt her again. This incident just proved to him that Sonny was only a danger
to her.

“I’m sorry Sonny was in here. I didn’t know he would get in here.” Jax says.

“It’s ok. He just wanted to see if I was ok.” She says.

“Well, I won’t let him near you anymore. I promise.”

“Jax, I can handle myself.”

“I just want to protect you.” He says.

“I know you do. But there are some things that you can’t keep me away from. You can’t
protect me from myself.” She says.

Just then a doctor walks in. She asks Jax to step out for a few minutes. She begins to
check Brenda over.

“I think I need to run a pregnancy test.” The doctor says.

Brenda can’t believe what she just heard. She hadn’t even thought about that. What
if......

“Why?”

“Well, you have some of the symptoms so I want to be sure. I want to check that out
before we run any tests because if we do any tests that could harm your baby if you are
pregnant.” The doctor says.

Brenda just looks at the doctor in fright and shock. She couldn’t believe this was
happening.

Chapter 4:

Brenda can’t even comprehend what the Doctor is telling her. There is no way she could
be pregnant. Well, she knew there *was* a away, but she couldn’t believe this was
happening.

“Uh.....pregnant?” Brenda says.

“Yes. It’s possible that you could be and I don’t want to take any chances. It would
probably be best to find out now rather than run some tests and do harm to the baby,
right?” The Doctor asks.

“Oh, right.” Brenda says with a weak smile.

“All right. Come with me.”

Brenda follows the Doctor and goes and takes a pregnancy test. She didn’t know what
would happen if she found out who’s baby it was. Could it be Jax’s? If it was then she
could spend her life with him. But, if it was Sonny’s.....she would finally have to pick the
man she wanted to be with. Having a baby would force her to choose who she loved
more.

“Brenda, are you ready?” The Doctor asked her. She had everything she needed in front
of her to do the test.

“Yes. Let’s do it.”

Sonny goes and sits in the waiting room and Mike follows him. Mike sits next to Sonny.
“Sonny, I....” Mike says.

“Look, Mike.....I hear you, ok? Fighting with Jax won’t get me Brenda back. I already
know that.” Sonny tells him.

“Then why did you start one with him?” Mike asks his Son.

“I just.....he made me so angry. The smug look on his face made me crazy. What happens
now is up to Brenda.” Sonny says.

“You mean you aren’t going to push her one way or another?” Mike asks him.

“No. It’s her turn to search for the truth. I’ve done all I can.”

“Michael, what happened between you two in the caves?” Mike asks hoping to get an
honest answer.

Lois hops out of her car and runs up to the door to the gatehouse. She pounds on it.

Ned hears the loud banging on the door and goes to answer it.

Lois doesn’t wait for him to say anything she just barges in and he shuts the door. “Nice
to see you too, Lois.”

“Cut the crap, Ned. What is going on with Brenda.” Lois asks him.

“I don’t know. Look, I haven’t heard anything yet.”

“Well, we can’t just sit here when something could be wrong. We have to find her.
Where do we start?” Lois says.

Robin finishes wiping as much dirt off him as she can. Jason can sense that something is
wrong. He knew things were rocky between them, but he also knew that things were
getting better day by day.

“I’ll be back. I have to go put these rags away.” Robin tells him nervously.

Jason takes her hand and makes her sit back next to him. He takes the rags away from her
and sets them down. “No. I want you to tell me what is bothering you. Your ancey and
this isn’t like you.”

“I’m fine.” Robin says hoping he won’t be able to tell that she is lying.

“I don’t think so. I know you and I know something is off.” Jason tells her.

“All right. You’re right. There is something bothering me.”

“Just tell me. You know I’ll do what I can to fix it.” He says.

“I don’t know if you can fix this one.” Robin replies.

Jax calls his brother to set up some bodygaurds for Brenda to keep her away from Sonny.

“Jerry, I don’t want him near her anymore. Too much has happened.” Jax tells his
brother.

“What happened to her?” Jerry asks him.

“It’s a long story.”

“Well, if I am going to be working to help you keep Sonny away I need to know.” Jerry
tells him.

“All right. His right hand man was trying to kill Brenda and have Sonny watch. He
wanted Sonny to watch the right woman die as he put it.” Jax tells him.

“Do you want me to take him out?”

“No. I don’t want to stoop to his level. Just hire two bodygaurds and have them be
assigned to our PH night and day.” Jax tells him.

Brenda spends the next half our waiting for the results to her pregnancy test. So much
rides on her being pregnant or not. Even if she isn’t she knows she has to face the truth.
The truth being.......her having to face the fact that she still loves Sonny......but also loves
Jax and which one she wants to be with. She hates to say it, but being pregnant would
make her choice for her.

The Doctor makes her way into Brenda’s room. Brenda sits up and watches her. She is
getting more nervous now that she came back.

“Did you get the results?” Brenda asks impatiently.

“Yes, I did. I have the results to your pregnancy test.” The Doctor says.

PREVIEW: Is Brenda pregnant? And how will the results change her? What is Robin concerned about? How
will Brenda react to bodygaurds arranged by Jax? And what will Sonny do now that Brenda has a choice to make?

Chapter 5:

**Note: Now I know you wouldn’t be able to tell right away if she was pregnant but this
is a story and since I want her pregnant....she will be.

So many thoughts are running through Brenda’s mind after the Doctor tells her that the
tests results are in. She couldn’t wait anymore.....she had to know if she was pregnant.

“Brenda, you’re pregnant” The Doctor tells her.

Those words ring through Brenda’s head. She couldn’t believe it. Now, she would have
to tell Jax that she was pregnant and she had to tell him about the caves. She knew this
would change things between them. Would Jax still want her? Would she still want him?

Sonny looks at Mike knowing this wasn’t somthing he felt like discussing right there.

“Mike, I am going to check on Brenda and then you can take me home.” He stands up to
leave, but turns around. “And then I will tell you what you want to know.” Sonny tells
his father.

Mike nods in agreement to his Son’s request. Sonny leaves to go find Brenda.

Jax makes his way into Brenda’s room. He sees the look of shock on her face. He goes
up to her and makes her look into his eyes. “Brenda, what is it?” Jax asks her so lovingly.

Jax doesn’t get a response from her. Jax turns towards the Doctor. “Has she gotten bad
news?”

“No, she hasn’t. Why don’t I leave you two alone a few minutes before I examine Brenda
any further.” The Doctor says.

“Thank - you.” Jax answers. The Doctor nods and then leaves the room.

Jax sits next to Brenda on the bed. He is getting no response from her. He just sits there
for a few minutes hoping she will say something......but she doesn’t.

“Brenda, please talk to me. What did she tell you?” Jax asks her.

Sonny makes his way to Brenda’s room and finds her sitting next to Jax. He watches her
and notices the expression in her face. He knew something was wrong, but he didn’t
know what it was. He stands there watching them. He could hear them, but barely.

“What’s going on, Bren?” Sonny thinks to himself.

Jax holds Brenda’s hand. “You can tell me anything. You know that, don’t you?” He
tells her.

Brenda looks at him. “I’m.......I’m pregnant.” She tells him softly.

Sonny watched her lips move. “She couldn’t have said what I just thought she said.” He
whispers. “Brenda....pregnant?”

“Wh....at?” Jax says surprised.

“I’m pregnant.” Brenda replies.

Jax looks at Brenda and a large smile appears on his face. He takes her in his arms and
holds her tight. A smile appears on her face and she holds him close.

Sonny heard her all right. She just told Jax she was pregnant. Sonny could feel himself
suffocating. He couldn’t believe what he was hearing. Everything they worked so hard
for was gone.....their future was gone. He would never be able to hold her again or feel
her lips on his.

Sonny moved away from the door and leaned against the wall. A small tear falls down his
cheek. “I’ve lost you forever. Forever.” Sonny whispers.

Robin sits back down on the couch next to Jason. She looks down. She doesn’t know
what to say or how to say it. She looks down at his legs and touches them lightly.

Jason lifts her chin up. “You know you can tell me anything.”

“Jason, this isn’t something you can fix. You can make this go away.” Robin tells him.
“Robin, your scaring me. Let me do what I can to help. I can’t stand to see you this
way.” Jason tells her. “I mean, I know things haven’t been the best between us, but I
thought it was getting better.”

“It was.....it is. I just wasn’t expecting you to stop by and I guess you caught me off
gaurd.”

“Robin, what is it. Please, talk to me!” Jason pleads.

“It’s about the protocal. I don’t think I want to take it.”

Jason couldn’t believe what he was hearing. If she stopped now.....she could die. There
was no way he was going to let that happen.

“You can’t, Robin. You could die if you did.” Jason tells her hoping she will see what
could happen.

Robin get angry at him for telling her what she should or should not do. Who did he think
he was? This was her life....not his. She stood up with tears flowing down her face and
yells, “Don’t you think I know that? But, what is the point, Jason? I could die anyway?
What if this doesn’t work and I die tomorrow? I am not sick, ok! I could live for years,
but if I stay on this then what? What good is our future if I’m dead!!!” She yells.

She gets all shakey and has trouble breathing. She is crying so hard and she can’t stop the
tears from falling. He walks over to her and holds out his hand for her to come to him.
She slaps it away. “Don’t. Don’t touch me! I don’t want your pity. I don’t want
anything to do with you ever again. Just GO! Leave me alone.” She tells him firmly.

Jason knows she is scared. He doesn’t move....he just stands there and looks at her. He
knows she really doesn’t want him to leave. There was no way he was going to walk out
the door on her and their future together.

Sonny runs back to where Mike is. “Let’s go. Take me home.” Sonny tells him.

“Did you see her?” Mike asks.

“No. Jax is with her. Just take me out of here.” Sonny tells him.

Mike says, “ok.” and then takes him home.

Jax and Brenda part from each other. Jax places his hand on Brenda’s soft skin. He looks
at her and smiles.

“A baby? I can’t believe it.” Jax says.

“Jax.....” Brenda begins.

“Brenda, there is something I need to warn you about. I hired some body gaurds to look
out for you.”

“What? Why? Harry is dead, Jax.” Brenda tells him.

“Sonny isn’t.”

“Jax, stop. Sonny wouldn’t hurt me. He....” Brenda starts to say something but stops.

“I don’t care. I don’t want you in anymore danger....especially since your going to have
my baby.”

“Jax, there is something we need to talk about.” Brenda begins to tell him.

Chapter 6:

Jax looks at Brenda with all the love he feels for her. He touches her face lightly and
smiles down at her. Brenda feels uncomfortable.....she’s not sure why, but she feels it.
She pulls away slightly and his hand drops.

“Brenda, what is it? Did I do something wrong?” Jax asks her.

“No. Of course you didn’t. You have done so much for me, you know that? You have
given me so much.” Brenda says.

“And I want to give you so much more. Now that we’re going to have a baby I can.” Jax
says beamingly.

“Jax, don’t do this. There is something I need to tell you.”

“Ok. Let’s get you out of here first.” Jax tells her.

“Fine. I need to see the Doctor alone for a few minutes. Can you get her?” Brenda asks.
She hopes he won’t ask to stay.

“If that’s what you want.” She nods. “Ok. I’ll be right back.” Jax replies.

Jax leaves the room and a tear rolls down Brenda’s cheek. She brings her hands to her
mouth. She takes a deep breath. Brenda is dreading what she knows she has to do.....she
has to break Jaxs’ heart. She has to tell him the truth.

Sonny walks into his PH with Mike right behind him. Sonny takes a step over to the bar
area and pours himself a drink. He can’t even take a drink. He is so upset. This wasn’t
what was suppose to happen. They were suppose to be together. She wasn’t suppose to
be starting a family with Jax.

Sonny slams his drink on the table and leans over it. Mike can tell his son is upset. He
walks over to him. “Michael, what is it?”

Sonny stands up and looks at his father. “Well, it looks like I won’t have to worry about
Brenda facing the truth or making a choice because one has already been made for her.”
Sonny tells him.

Mike, not quite understanding what he’s talking about, says, “What do you mean? I
thought....”

Sonny doesn’t let him finish. “Yeah, well....I thought, too. But I was wrong. I was
wrong about me and Brenda.”

“Don’t say that! Just give her time.” Mike says.

“You don’t get it, Mike. She’s pregnant!” Sonny yells. Sonny takes his glass and wips it
across the room.

Ned had convinced Lois to wait with him a few minutes before they took any action. Just
then the phone rings. Lois looks at Ned. “Well, aren’t you going to answer it?”

“Yeah.” Ned says. Ned picks up the phone. “Hello?”

“It’s Jax. I just wanted to let you know that Brenda and Sonny are ok. I am with Brenda
at GH and will be taking her home shortly.”

“Oh, thank g*d. Will she be up for visitors? Lois is here.” Ned tells him.

“Yeah. Give us a few hours.”

“All right. See you then.” Ned says and then hangs up.

Lois stands up as soon as Ned hangs up. “Well, was that about Brenda?”

“Yeah. She’s fine and will be home soon.”

Lois breathes a sigh of relief. “Oh, thank goodness.”

“If I get my hands on Sonny, I will.....”

Lois stops him. “What? Don’t you dare blame this on Sonny. It wasn’t his fault!” Lois
yells.

“Not his fault? What are you talking about? It was Sonny’s ex-right hand man that pulled
this stunt. It was *all* Sonny’s fault! If Sonny was the cause of some big explosion that
injured people you would still say it’s not his fault.” Ned says in frustration.

“I’m not going to listen to this! You’ve lost it.” Lois says as she heads for the door.
Ned races to the door and stands in front of it. “I don’t think so.”

“Your not going anywhere.” Ned tells her.

“The h*ll I’m not!”

Robin turns her back to Jason. Jason walks over to her and places his hand on her
shoulder.

“Robin, I’m not leaving.” Jason says softly.

“Just go. You can’t do anything for me. I’m going to die.” She whispers.

Jason turns her around and holds her face in his hands. “You are *not* going to die! You
hear me! We are going to be together forever and there is nothing you can do about that.
I love you and I won’t let you go! You wouldn’t give up on me and I’m not going to
give up on you. I will be here for you. Don’t do this. Don’t give up on yourself. You
have so much to live for.” Jason protests.

“Like what?” Robin asks.

“Like me. Like our future together.” Jason says. Future was not a word he used often.

Robin pulls away slightly. She looks in his eyes to see if he was just saying that to get her
to come around. “Future? You never talk about your future. That isn’t even a concept
to you. What are you trying to pull, Jason?”

“Nothing! You are my future, Robin! As long as I have that then I don’t need anything
else!” He tells her.

Robin places her hand slowly on his arm. She looks up at him and sees nothing but
concern for her and for the state she was in.

The Doctor walked into Brenda’s room. “You wanted to see me?”

“Yes. Do you know the blood type? Can you tell me the blood type?” Brenda asks
nervously.

“I sure can. This is important, isn’t it?” The Doctor asks.

“Yes. It’s very important.” Brenda answers.

“All right. The blood type is.....Type O.” The Doctor informs her. She looks at Brenda
and Brenda turns white as a ghost. “Brenda? Brenda are you all right? Brenda?”
