Here we are again by PartyDoll
Brenda walked through the door of the Quatermaine gatehouse
carrying a box with A.J. and Keesha behind her, also carrying
"Where do want these, Brenda?" A.J. asked a little winded from his
hike up the driveway.
"Just put them down anywhere. That was the last of the boxes.
Thanks you guys. I really appreciate the help."
"No problem, Brenda. We'll see you later." Keesha said grateful
her work was done for the day. She was beat and from the looks of
him so was A.J.
"A.J. thank your mother again for letting me use the gatehouse."
"No problem Brenda. It's been empty since Ned took off for
Bensonhurst and this is still headquarters for L&B, right?"
"Right. I'll see you later. If you stop by Kelly's thank Ruby for
the food she sent over."
"You got it. Bye Bren."
"Bye." A.J. and Keesha left closing the door behind them and
Brenda took a look around her. "This place is a mess. How am I
going to clean this up? Oh well, better get started." Just then
the phone rang. "L&B. This is Brenda Barrett."
"No more Jacks, huh? That didn't take long." said the familar
Aussie accented voice.
"Jax, what the hell do you want?"
"I want to know what the hell you were thinking walking out on me
"What was I thinking? I was thinking that I caught you and Miranda
in bed together, that's what I was thinking." Brenda couldn't
believe his nerve calling her and asking what she was thinking.
"Brenda, it wasn't what it looked like."
"Oh you mean you and she hadn't just slept together in our home,
in our bed."
"Yes, but look-"
"No, you look. I want absolutely nothing, I repeat, NOTHING to do
with you or your wife or the rest of your insane family ever again
and if you ever call here, or approach me in public I will see to
it that you are brought up on harassment charges. Am I making
"Good. Good-bye Jax." Brenda slammed down the phone and it
immediately rang again. "Seeing if I'm serious? Trust me I am. I
will call Mac and Dara Jensen and see to it you are thrown in
jail, you jerk."
"Brenda?" The voice was as familiar as Jax's, but it definately
wasn't Jax. It was Sonny.
"Yeah. Are you okay?"
"Yeah, I'm sorry. I thought you were Jax."
"Glad I'm not. Are you working?"
"No I'm unpacking."
"Lois and Ned move back into the gatehouse?"
"No I did."
"You heard me. I now live at the Q gatehouse."
"What about Jax?"
"He and I are through."
"Who decided that?"
"Why?" Sonny knew he wouldn't like the answer. Anything that made
Brenda leave Jax had to have hurt and he hated it when she was
"I caught him and Miranda in bed together."
"You heard me." Brenda felt a catch in her voice and prayed that
Sonny hadn't noticed. She didn't want to breakdown. She couldn't
let him see how much she needed him.
"Bren, you okay?" He knew the answer, he had heard the catch in
her voice. But then Brenda was stubborn she wasn't going to let
him know that she needed him as much as he needed her. he heard
her take a deep breath. He knew that she was going to tell him
everything was fine and make some excuse to get off the phone.
"I'm fine. Look Sonny, I've got a lot of unpacking to do, so I'm
going to go. Talk to you later, okay?"
"Sure Bren. Bye." Brenda hung up the phone and sat down in the
chair. She could feel the tears running down her face. She needed
Sonny so much it hurt. She turned on the radio hoping music would
lift her spirits. The song was Chances Are by Peter Cetera.
Here we are again
I guess it must be fate
"Yes Sonny here we are again." Brenda muttered and started to sob.
Let me know what you think you guys.
Sonny sat in his penthouse staring at the papers in front of him.
He slammed the folder shut. He just couldn't think straight. Not
while Brenda was hurting. He got up from the chair and walked over
to the phone. Picking it up he dialed the number for the
gatehouse. He heard Brenda's voice. "Hi you've reached L&B Records
and the home of Brenda Barrett. Leave a message for either one at
the sound of the tone. Thank you and have a nice day." The machine
beeped just as Sonny hung up the phone. He drummed his fingers on
the desk in thought. Then he grabbed his coat and strode out the
door. He didn't know what he was going to say to Brenda once he
got to the gatehouse but he knew had to go to her.
Brenda stared at the phone and prayed that it wouldn't ring again.
Jax had called her this morning and after she had hung up on him
she had called Dara Jensen. She was filing a suit against him. She
wanted him to rot away in some cell. Maybe Mac would help her. He
hated Jax as much as she did at the moment. Then a knock sounded
at the door.
"Who is it?" Brenda prayed for A.J. or Emily. She didn't want to
deal with Jax.
"Bren, it's me."
"Can I come in?"
"Sure. Hold on." She wiped her eyes. They were a little bloodshot
from last night. She had barely gotten any sleep. She walked over
and opened the door. "Hi. Come on in." Sonny walked in and turned
around to face her. After she closed the door and turned to face
him he took her in his arms and hugged her. She hugged him back
tightly. She was so happy he was here. She needed him more than
anything in the world right now.
"You okay?" He asked as they pulled apart and sat down on the
"No." Brenda admitted in a small voice.
"Oh sweetie, I'm so sorry."
"For what? You didn't sleep with Miranda. Did you?"
"No. I sorry your hurting so badly. I feel partly responsible. If
I hadn't brought Miranda back you and Jax would be.."
"Living a lie. Sonny, the night you went back to Lily was the
night Jax wanted my answer for his marriage proposal and I said
yes because I didn't want to be alone. But I ended up alone
"Bren, you're not alone." Sonny took her hand. "I promise you as
long as I'm breathing I'll be with you, if you'll let me." Brenda
could feel tears in her eyes. She couldn't believe that this was
"If I'll let you? Sonny all I ever wanted was us. I never wanted
anything else more in my life. I just figured that it was my fault
that everyone left me sooner or later. I mean look at my life."
Brenda started to sob and for a moment Sonny didn't see the woman
he loved, he saw the little girl in her. The one whose mother had
left her when she was a baby and whose father hadn't given a damn
about her and hadn't talked to her unless it was to tell her she
was a screw up and compare her to her sister. The little girl who
was afraid that sooner or later everyone she loved or needed would
leave her. He knew what it was like to be alone better than
anyone. He was going to make sure she never felt alone again. He
wrapped his arms around her and held her until she stopped crying.
She looked up at him. "I love you, Sonny."
"I love you, too, baby. I promise I'll never go away as long as
you want me in your life."
"I want you in it forever." Sonny smiled down at her and looked at
her left hand. Her rings were gone. She followed his gaze. "I
threw them at Jax and Miranda." She smiled at him and he laughed.
"That's my girl."
"Forever Sonny. Forever your girl." She snuggled closer to him and
he hugged her tighter. It would be okay. He didn't know what the
future held but he knew he had the one thing that would make his
life wonderful. He had Brenda back.
