Sonny looked up from his paper work. He saw Brenda walk in with Jax. Brenda could see the look of jealousy in his eyes.
"Why don't you just tell her how you feel?" Mike asked.
"Because, she's with loverboy," Sonny replied coldly. He really didn't want to talk about it.
"You never know. She might feel the same," Mike said.
"If she did, she wouldn't be with Jax," Sonny replied.
"I'm just saying that you should tell her," Mike said.
"Well stay out of it," Sonny yelled and left Lukes.
"What's wrong with him?" Brenda asked Mike.
"Nothing. He's just in a bad mood," Mike said.
Brenda looked out the window. She saw Sonny pacing back and forth. She didn't really know him that well. But from what she heard he was a bad person. She didn't need to get involved with someone who would get her in trouble.
"Maybe we should go," Jax said and he and Brenda left. Brenda still couldn't help but wonder what Sonny was so mad about. She had never seen him that angry.
Later That Day
Brenda was walking on the docks. She saw Sonny looking at the water. He had a distant look in his eyes. His eyes seemed so soulful.
"What happened earlier? You seemed mad," Brenda asked Sonny.
"Nothing," Sonny replied. He couldn't keep his eyes off Brenda. He wanted to tell her how he felt, but she wouldn't feel the same.
"Sonny, you can tell me. I won't tell anyone," brenda said. She had been trying to get Sonny to open up to her for awhile. She wanted to understand him.
"I know you won't. I'm just stressed out about work. That's really all I can tell you," Sonny said. He could tell Brenda was being sincere and that she only wanted to help.
"Okay. Do you want to talk about anything else?" Brenda asked. She knew there was something else.
"Are we friends?" Sonny asked.
"I guess. I mean, we don't really know each other," Brenda said. She wondered why Sonny would ask her that. He didn't seem to care about her.
"Well maybe we should hang out some more," Sonny said.
"yeah. I'd like that," Brenda said smiling.
"How about tomorrow night?" Sonny asked. He melted when she smiled at him.
"Sure. Where do you want to go?" Brenda asked.
"How about Lukes?" Sonny said.
"Okay," Brenda said. She hugged Sonny good-bye and left. She had to get back to Jax before he got worried.
Brenda walked into her and Jaxs apartment. She saw him sitting on the couch. She sat down next to him and leaned her head on his shoulder. She could tell that Jax had something on his mind. Everyone seemed to have problems today. Sonny being mad and Jax being upset. Jax had been acting like this ever since they left Mikes. She wondered what was wrong. Jax, is something wrong? Brenda asked softly. She lifted her head up and looked into his eyes. He just looked at her and then sighed.
Is there something going on between you and Sonny? Jax asked. He looked at Brenda waiting for her to answer. Jax wasnt going to let Sonny come between him and Brenda. He had worked so hard, just to go on one date with her.
No, Sonny and I are just friends, Brenda replied. She didnt get why Jax hated Sonny so much. All he ever said was that Sonny was trouble and she didnt want to get mixed up in that. But Sonny didnt seem like trouble. He was always so nice to her and she wanted to know why Jax hated him so much.
I saw you two on the docks Brenda. I know you made plans with him tomorrow night. So what is really going on between you and Sonny? Jax asked again this time with anger shining in his eyes. First Brenda was talking to Sonny, and now she was lying about their relationship. He was getting sick of it. He could tell there was more going on just by the way she looked at Sonny. He wasnt going to lose Brenda to Sonny of all people.
Yeah, Sonny and I made plans. We made plans to talk and hang out like friends. There is nothing going on between me and Sonny. I barely even know him. This jealousy thing stops here Jax. Im tired of it. Just because I talk to a guy does not mean theres something going on. You need to let it go, Brenda replied. Jax was really pissing her off. She did nothing wrong. And she wasnt doing anything with Sonny. All they did was talk and all they planned on being was friends. She was really getting tired of Jaxs temper. When she first met him, he seemed so sweet, but now all he did was yell at her. She didnt know if her and Jax would work out for much longer.
Brenda, Im not an idiot. Tell me what is going on between you and Sonny, Jax yelled. His face was now red. He was far beyond calming down. Brenda was his, not Sonnys.
Jax, Im telling you the truth. There is nothing going on between me and Sonny. Were just friends, Brenda said shaking. Jax was starting to scare her. Shed never seen him this angry before and she was scared that he was going to hurt her.
You know what. Im through with you, Jax retorted. He wasnt going to let Brenda leave him and make him look like the fool. Jax went to walk out the door and Brenda moved to stop him.
Jax, please just listen to me. There is nothing going on between me and Sonny. I would never do that to you, Brenda replied with tears streaming her face. She didnt even know why she was chasing after Jax. All hes been doing lately is fighting with her and treating her like crap.
I said Im done with you, Jax yelled. He grabbed Brenda by her wrist and threw her to the other side of the room so she wouldnt get in his way.
Brenda looked up and saw that she had landed on the glass table and that Jax had already left her. She went into the bathroom and cleaned herself up. She figured she could come back for her stuff tomorrow. Right now she needed a drink.
So how did things go with Brenda? Mike asked. He knew that Sonny had talked to her since he had a big grin on his face.
They went fine. Shes with Jax, but me and her can be friends. Im taking her out tomorrow night, Sonny replied. If all Brenda wanted was to be friends, then hed live with that. Hed rather be friends than nothing at all. Sonny watched Mike walk out into the front. Hed been yelling at Sonny for not telling Brenda how he felt, and now when he finally talked to her, he didnt want to hear it.
Sonny, you might want to go to the bar, Mike said walking back in.
Now why would I want to do that, Sonny asked. He liked it back here. No one saw him, and no one could bother him.
Brendas sitting at the bar and she looks pretty beat up, Mike answered. He saw the look on Sonnys face and watched him leave.
Brenda, what happened? Sonny asked when he saw her. Her face looked cut up and so did her arm.
Jax and I got into a fight, Brenda replied. She looked at Sonny and saw nothing but concern.
Come on back here with me, Sonny said and led her to the backroom. He gave Mike a look and watched him leave.
You didnt have to bring me back here you know, Brenda said softly. She was happy he did though.
Did Jax do this to you? Sonny asked. He gently touched her face and watched her close her eyes.
He didnt mean to. He was just so angry, he was trying to get me out of his way, Brenda said. She looked back at Sonny.
Dont defend him Brenda. You dont deserve to be treated like this, Sonny replied. He pulled Brenda into his arms and kissed her forehead.
It kind of was my fault. He was trying to leave and I went to stop him, Brenda said. She just couldnt believe everything that had happened tonight.
Brenda, it wasnt your fault. Jax should have never done this to you. And if he did this to you, he doesnt deserve to have you, Sonny said. Brenda didnt say anything in return. She just laid in his arms and fell asleep.
